There is so much power in the name of Jesus. We read in Mark 9:41 that Jesus says, “Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.” When you try your best to make Jesus’s name famous, he receives the glory since he is the one who deserves it. He can get quite creative with how he pulls things off in our lives and it is sometimes in the ways that we least expect, but he will get the praise that is due him. We, as Christ followers, must make sure that what we give are given in Jesus's name so he receives the glory that he deserves. When we take the time and effort to ensure that Jesus’s name is at the forefront, instead of our own, we are doing what is both right and pleasing to God.
Throughout each and every day of the Christmas season, you will have opportunities to make Jesus’s name famous. Maybe it's a prayer you're asked to say at a Christmas dinner at work. Maybe it's a party that you host at your home. Perhaps it's what you write on your Christmas card. Perhaps the easiest way to make Christmas focus on Jesus is by inviting someone who, who maybe doesn't attend church to one of this year's Christmas church services. So, step outside of your comfort zone and bring someone with you to experience Jesus alongside you this Christmas.
Reflection/Discussion Question: What is something that you can do this week to make the name of Jesus famous?
